Seeing Kids Smile!

Bringing hope and comfort to the littlest children, critically and chronically ill who are having their hearts repaired and recovering from surgery at Mattel Children’s Hospital, UCLA.  Thank you, Dr. Levi and Dr. Perens for delivering hope during some of the most difficult cases, transforming and saving kids lives, and for giving children the gowns and blankets when they return from surgery while they endure lengthy hospital stays; each one hand-made with love.  It’s a very scary time for children and their families with many kids needing multiple heart surgeries.  Also, thank you Leslie Austin for your friendship, sharing your creative gifts with me, teaching me that it’s okay to mess up and start over, and for this good distraction during five recent hospitalizations.  From the baby, toddler, and youth gowns to the soft and brightly colored blankets, all are a thread of love in an otherwise very sterile and scary environment.  Every one we stitch is made with love for children needing comfort during this unsure time in their young lives.
